The 3DS Global Roundup Hackathon is an opportunity to flex your coding muscle and turn a bare-bones, hand drawn wireframe into a functioning app that solves a problem. The 3DS team will select a small, elite group of coders who will spend 24 hours turning a hand drawn wireframe into a functional application that solves a social/environmental problem. And you’ll get free food and a lot of caffeine out of it.
The Hackathon/Wireframe Competition
The Hackathon will take place during 3 Day Startup’s annual conference, called the Global Roundup. 3DS Global Roundup attendees are eligible to submit a wireframe for a mobile app that solves a social/environmental problem. A winning submission will be chosen by the Hackathon team, then developed over the course of 24 hours in a caffeine-fueled coding extravaganza.
The Hackathon Team’s Responsibilities
Two weeks before the conference, the Hackathon team will be tasked with selecting the winning wireframe to build. Then, from July 9 – 10, the hackers will turn the wireframe design winner into a functional, multi-platform mobile app, and present their work to the conference attendees.
The Hackathon Team
- 2-3 iOS Engineers
- 2-3 Android Engineers
- 2-3 Backend/Full Stack Developers
3DS will recruit and select the team based on engineering prowess, curiosity, and experience. As shown above, we are particularly looking for mobile developers with experience building native apps for either iOS (Swift or Objective-C), Android (Java) or both, and backend/full stack developers with experience creating web apps with REST APIs.
What is the 3DS Global Roundup?
This summer marks the 2nd Annual 3DS Global Roundup, where several hundred 3DS alumni, investors, and entrepreneurs will converge on Austin’s Capital Factory for a weekend-long conference full of networking, brainstorming, and of course, shenanigans.
